    manner and seezing his stick he went towards them shouting that they were desecrating the holy spot.
    Having dispersed them, the old pilgrim resumed his former position at the well and no sooner had he done so than the water began to flow once more.
    In penal days pilgrimages to this well were forbidden by law, and if anybody dared to visit it, they were liable to fain and imprisonment.
