  1. On Juanuary the twenty-fifth at twelve o'clock that day.
    The scholars of the Cross School gave a grand display
    They had a fast and furious hunt
    It was a lightning pace.
    They sent a youth well fit to run
    To guide them in the chase
    The pursuers were brave and strong
    And Numbered twenty four
    Their equals as athletic chaps
    Ne'r crossed the Shamrock shore.

    Jimmy Lynch was in command
    He showed excellent skill
    He gave the signal "for to" start
    And hunt to Shambo hill
    The boys being eager for the sport
    They followed on amain
    Across through the wood, the curraghs and Ratain
    Out through "Bob" Parson's field the hunting being first rate
    Across the road at highest speed.
