    Xmas Day to Jany 6th
    It was considered unlucky to dig the earth during the 12 days of Xmas and no man here would plough during that time
    Holy Week
    People never draw blood during Holy Week.
    May Day
    I have heard it said in this neighbourhood that it is unlucky to give out fire on May Day. matches candles, paraffin oil etc.
    First Friday of the month
    A slit put in the right ear of calves on the 1st Friday of the month of its birth is supposed to preseve the animal from Blackleg.
    Plough
    Ploughmen in this neighbourhood never leave a plough facing the north.
    Sowing
    Seedlings are supposed to make a better growth if sown when the moon is full.
