  1. One night a man who was fond of drink stopped out late. He was in fear of his wife because she was a cross woman. She was watching him home and she man up her mind to give him a good fright. When he came home he opened the door with his key. His wife was standing in the hall covered with a white sheet "My God" said he "Who is that" She said "I am the devil". He said "You frightened the life out of me I thought you were the wife.
