  1. There are four in the parish. The men who own them are James Dillon who has his forges near a stream. Pat Dillon has his forge near a crossroad. Mick Dillon who has a forge near a crossroad. James Halligan has a forge near a bog. Some of these have smiths for years. All the forges have slated roofs and the doors are very large. The smith usually employs one to blow the fire. There a number of implements in a forge such as an anvil, a hammar, nails, sledges and many others. He repairs farm implements and he shoes horses.
