  1. Landlords of the district were Lord Rathdonnell,
    Drumcan: Mr Thompson, Annagassan,
    Sir Henry Bellingham, Castle bellingham
    Lord Rathdonnell was landlord of the townlands of Drumcar, Willistown, & Adamstown.
    No evictions on his estate.
    Mr Thompson lived in Annagassan where he owned & worked the grinding mill which is still working & is now owned by D. Dougherty & Co.
    He does not appear to have been a severe landlord but was fond of those tenants who told him that they didn't use butter.
    Sir Henry Bellingham was landlord of Salterstown and had an eviction there - the tenant being Mr Johnson.
    On the day of the eviction the neighbours locked the gate leading to the farmyard & by means of some fire carried in the cover of a pot managed to heat the lock of the gate.
    On the bailiffs putting in an appearance they withdrew leaving the unfortunate bailiff
