- A short distance outside the Village of Louth on the Dundalk Road there is a Townland called White Cross.
Outside a small house in that townland there is a cross to the memory of a man who died in the place where the cross is now.
Some people say that a man named Taafe was being taken to be buried in Louth and that the hearse would not pass the place where the cross is now and that the people had to get a dog carriage to bring the corpse to be buried.
Other people say that a man died there and that the cross was put up where he died.
It is said that there is a man buried under the cross outside the house.
The inscription on the cross is Pray for the sould of George Taafe.- Collector
