    At the northern end of the village of Blackrock, beside a house called "Fairview" stands an interesting tree. According to local legend, St. Columba sat under this tree, and wrote some of the scriptures either on the tree or whilst sitting under it. It is believed that the falling of this tree, or its being knocked down, foretells the end of the world.
