If a cow goes thieving a "Crannasc" is put on her that is she tied from her head to her foremost leg with a rope. A kid's skin is hung in the cow house for luck.
When my uncle is milking the cows morning and evening and when they are kicking him he says "deise." Cows lose their milk when they are milked slowly and with one hand.
Patrick Downes Moyglass had a cow and when he was about ten years of age he used milk her himself. He used milk her slowly and with one hand. One evening he went milking the cow and she gave him no milk.
After cows calving the milk is called "beastings." The first milk is boiled and given to the hens.
