    firkin into shape.
    There were six hoops on the top and six on the bottom.
    The bottom was made and jointed and rounded by what they call a cooper's adze.
    Then it was cleaned and fixed inside for sale.
    The price of a firkin was two shillings and six pence.
    They used to be sold at the big butter markets in Miltown.
