    In the hill of Ballivaskin there are huge stone walls...

    In the hill of Ballivaskin there are huge stone walls.
    Here it is said the Princes who ruled over Corca Bascin lived from the beginning of the Christian era to the battle of Clontarf.
    Here are some landmarks of past history.
    There is a triangular piece of ground surrounded by a huge stone wall.
    The place is called Grianán which means "Court or place of amusement".
    There is also a large heap of burnt stones amounting to several tons.
    This was the great fire where the warriors of olden times cooked their food. One day as the prince was holding his annual feast he sat in his chiar with his druid beside him.
