  1. About two miles from Kilfenora now stands the ruined castle of Leimneagh where once dwelt a powerful woman who killed all who went near her.
    She was Mary Mac Mahon and was red haired.
    Owing to her wickedness she was dreaded by every body.
    She was known as Maire Ruadh. She lived in a beautiful castle living with her were a hundred soldiers who dreaded her.
    She married twenty times. She married a soldier whose name was Cooper and had two daughters and a son. Cait, Maire, and Eoghan. Getting tired of him she kicked him in the stomach and killed him.
    She always led her soldiers to battle and was sure to win.
