- In olden times Braddle was the land lord for Tipperary district. He appointed Bansha as his place to collect the rent and the tenants came to him with it and went into his office where he collected it. He had a process of ejectment sent to Gallant Michael Hayes and when it came to his turn to go in with his rent Braddle refused to take it. "Well," said Michael, folding up the rent and putting it in his pocket, "if you don't take that you can take this," and he pulled out a blunder-buss and shot him. "Boys," he said, when he was walking out, "there is great noise in there," pointing to the office. At that time people would wait until the land lord would call them so they had a long wait. They began to get alarmed when he was not coming out and so they went in and found him shot. The Gallant Michael was going along the road towards Tipperary town and he met a man he knew with a load of hay, and he told him his story. The man told him to take off his clothes and to throw them on the bank of the river Aherlow(continues on next page)
