Number over 70 years (John Boney) - one.From this townland about one hundred and twenty families were evicted by the landlord John Langley, "Yellow Shawn" as he was called, between 1840 and 1878. The last tenant to be evicted in 1878 was John Nagle, the ruins of whose house are on the farm now occupied by Miss Elizabeth Gleeson.Hags of excellent quality exist on the farm now occupied by Mr. Thomas O'Connor, adjoining Sherburne Valley. The place got its name probably from the existence of these quarries.
