  1. There is a field in Rathdrum known as "The Carraigán" and it is said locally that a priest used visit there in the Penal Times and offer Holy Mass.
    It was then a graveyard but is not used as such now. A local historian who has died within recent years said that when he was a boy he remembered burials being made there. The field is on rising ground and up to a year ago a very ancient-looking tree decorated its moundy hillock. People say that long ago when the hunted priest came to say Mass there that he tied his horse to this tree.
