  1. Herbs were much used long ago for many ailments.
    They are still used in this part of the country.
    Marsh-Mallow boiled until it forms a jelly is used as a cure for Rheumatism and Sprains.
    Dog-roots scraped and boiled in milk, then strained and taken as a medicine is considered blood-purifier.
    Nettles boiled like cabbage and used as a vegetable prevents contagious deseases (diseases).
    Male-fern roasted and mixed with fresh lard is supposed to cure Anthonys Fire, the blood of a Cahill is also a cure.
    Forge-water is a cure for Chilblains.
