  2. There are two holy wells in this parish. St. Ruadhan's Well in the village of Lorrha, which is now an enclosed spring, with a number of stone steps leading down into it. It is quite near to the smallest of the three monastic ruins of Lorrha Abbey. It is now used for domestic purposes. Formerly the water was used to cure sore eyes.
    St Kieran's Well is situated in Mr. Wellington's field near the Pike Road, on the Birr-Portumna road. There is supposed to be a salmon fish in it that cannot be caught.
