district were known as the seven plough lands, and the monks of the Cistercian Monastary were the land lords. Then, when the monks were expelled, the ancestors of Lord Clancurry obtained possession of the domain. The last Clancurry was not a very beloved landlord, and contributed his quota to the many evictions which helped to make the peasants lot miserable in the district. There was a sum of money levied on Lord Clancurry, which he had to pay every year to Maynooth College. The Seven Ploughlands consisted of seven townslands in the adjoining parishes of Murroe and Boher. They were believed to be the richest tillage lands in Munster. Lord Clancurry was the last land-lord. Lord of the seven ploughlands.
