  1. It is believed that the lands and Great House of Towerhill were like others of their kind confiscated by Cromwell. Who the planter was is not generally known but until the estate was purchased by the Land Commission from Captain Lloyd (the last landlord) there was a head rent of four shillings per acre being paid to one Stafford
