  1. 30. The making of Poteen
Long ago poteen was made in Knockaney. The place where it was made was in a bog, where no people could see it. One time six men and five women were making poteen. They had to hundred bottles of poteen made, but it got bad, and one man put a match to the poteen. It blew up, and killed the man. This stopped it for a while. After a few years the people began it again. The place was discovered by the guards who put a road through the bog. The place is still to be seen. There is a well beside the place where the people got water for the poteen.
