  1. Marriages are held in Shrove. It is said Wednesday is the luckiest day to get married and that January is the luckiest month. When a person is getting married the motor-car is decorated with ribbons and flowers.
    The people go off on a honeymoon. The do not come home for about two weeks. When they come home they go to the house of the bride and a big feast is held there. All the friends are invited to the feast.
    It is custom in this locality that strawboys go to the feast and they will not leave until they get money. They sing and dance at the feast. It was the custom to have people married in their homes long ago but that was
