    Buying and Selling.
Shops in olden times were very uncommon there was only one in every three miles.
Scollops and cabbage plants used be brought to the Church gate and sold after Mass to the people.
The people used exchange cabbage for sugar. They used also exchange many other things. Long ago it was the custom in this locality that all the farmers sons used take the potatoes out of their fathers garden and exchange them for "fags" or tobbacco in the shops.
