  1. Food in Olden Times/
    They had no tables in olden times they used eat their meals sitting in the centre of the floor. They used to have griddle bread made from oaten meal and Indian meal. This bread was made by mixing the meals together then they put a griddle on the fire and put the cake on it to bake.
    A griddle was a flat iron like a plate with a handle out of it. The meat they used was called "Long Bottom", because it was long meat. Plenty wheat was grown in Ireland at that time but they had to give it to the English to pay the rent.
