  1. Shops were common in olden times. The people used to go to the town nearest to them to make purchases. Buying and selling was carried on in olden times after Mass. It is still carried on now. Money was not always given for goods. Sometimes hay was given in exchange for potatoes and so on. But animals were usually sold for money.
