  1. Poll na Rithe.
    In the parish of Killeedy, in the townland of Gortnaclohy, not a half a mile from my house there stands a very old historical tree. This tree is called Poll na Rithe.
    About fifty years ago, there was a wood consisting a number of trees, all of whom were cut down, except this tree. Many events are supposed to have happened around this tree.
    In penal times mass is supposed to have been said at the east side of it. At one time as a Priest read mass, he was shot and was buried beside it. Upon the ground lay a beautiful flag, with some latin words inscribed on it.
    One xmas night as a man went to a nearby shop he saw some lights. On returning he saw a beautiful foxy haired woman milking a speckled cow. Around her was a flock of children asking for milk.
    On another evening as two fowlers crossed the tree, they threw a small stone into a hole in the ground. It made great noise. On proceeding their
