    I set out for Killorglin fair.
    T'was a long road and tough but my ass was good stuff.
    Sure I had him since he was a foal.
    And it was thirty-five years since he first cocked his ears.
    In the charming old town of Listowel.
    II
    As I left Castlemain t'was beginning to rain.
    So I tightened the rag round my knees.
    And a saucy young pup on the road held me up.
    And demanded a drive to the fair.
