    Mr. J. McMahon, The Glebe, Ardagh.
    1. As I went over the road,
    I met a man with an iron nose,
    And timber toes,
    and upon my word,
    He would frighten the crows.
    Ans:- a gun.
    2. "Ink" and under the bank
    Ten drawing four.
    Ans:- A woman milking a cow.
    3. I washed my face in water that never rained or ran,
    And I wiped my face in a towel that was never worn or spun.
    Ans:- The Sun and dew.
    4. As black as ink and ink it is not, as white as milk and milk it is not, and it hopes on the road like hailstones.
    Ans:- A magpie.
    5. it is red and yellow and green,
    The King cannot come at it,
