  1. In our district people have some customs for certain feasts throughout the year. On St. Stephen's Day big boys go out to collect money and usually they have a party and if small boys go out they travel from house to house chanting the following words.
    The wren the wren the King of all birds.
    St. Stephen's day he was caught in the furge.
    Althow he was little his family was great.
    So cheer land-lady and give us a treat.
    We followed our wren through frost and snow.
    We followed our wren five miles and more.
    From Sugar hill to Kilrush.
    And we brought him home on a green hollybush
