  1. In Shanid in the parish of Shanagolden, in County Limerick there is a ruined castle. It is now called Shanid Castle. it is about nine hundred years old, and was built by Fitzgerald, Earl of Desmond. It is in ruins about four hundred years.
    It was attacked by the Danes, and it was defended by Mahon brother to Brian Boru, and Mahon was victorious.
    There is said to be an underground passage according
