    belonged to the prospective husband's crowd and the husband's people would think he belonged to the wife's people and so between them he would have a good night. Things turned out as designed and the traveller was fed and attended to in the double. Nobody knew the stranger and for convenience they called him "Mr. Rail" (because he came in a rail). He danced all night with the prospective bride and in the morning when the Priest called the parties together for the marriage (N.B. The marriage ceremony was always carried out in the house) the bride said she would not marry anyone but Mr. Rail. After much wrangling the prospective bridegroom withdrew and Mr. Rail and the bride were married. The farm belonged to the girl and she and her husband lived there happily. Nobody ever knew who he was and the adopted name 'stuck'. He became
