    In the valleys of Knockanure.

    And when our boys ere put standing
    The rifles ready to fire.
    The neighbours in the hillside round.
    Indeed they did admire.
    It was down the hill there ran a rill.
    It ran so bright and pure.
    It was coloured with our Sinn Fein blood.
    In the valleys of Knockanure.

    In fairy forth our boys were shot.
    And there their bodies lay.
    Waiting for the grasp of death.
    To take their young lives way.
    If they were at home amongst their own.
    Their friendly friends would cry.
    But they are gone to their end.
    Without parents or friends to bid them their last - good bye -.

    I met with Dalton's mother.
    Those words to me did say.
