    the horses and plough went with it. Ever since that place is called Poll na gCapall.
    Mr Michael Riordan's house in Ballygrogan was burned about then years ago by a sparke from a passing engine. No lives were lost. Rathduff Creamery, the Guard's Barrack's and the signal cabin were burned about twenty years ago. The creamery was burned one Sunday when the people were at Mass. The Guard's Barrack's were burned by the Irish Republicans Army. The signal cabin was also burned by the Irish Republican Army.
    After the insurrection of 1916 a bad flu set out known as the black flu. It killed about twelve people in this district.
