  1. There are several liosanna in many parts of the country.
    They are now supposed to be the remains of old houses of the ancient Irish. There is a round little field to be seen, outside this there is a ring of bushes, shrubs and ferns. outside this there is a trench which is sometimes full of water. These were supposed to be the way the old people had of protecting the house from robbers or wild beasts. Sometimes there would be one ring around the house, sometimes two or sometimes three or even more and the greater the number of rings the more important
