  1. Tradition has it that a town existed named Brigown. There is however no evidence to support this conjecture. Brigown was the name of the ancient monastery and Church founded by St Fanahan and from this it was given to the district round about.
    Right through the middle Ages Brigown was glebeland supporting and housing the Pastor of the district.
