    Long ago there lived an old man and his wife in a small cabin at the foot of the mountains between the hill of Glenanaar and the Nagle mountains.

    Long ago there lived an old man and his wife in a small cabin at the foot of the mountains between the hill of Glenanaar and the Nagle mountains. Attached to this house was a small plot of ground, which this man found great pleasure in tilling, and growing cabbage, potatoes and other vegetables for the use of his own house.
    After some years a friend of their own came from a foreign country to live with them for the remainder of his life. This man never bothered going to mass or any religious places. He found great pleasure in taking away the produce of other people's property in a disguised manner. One day while the master of the house was from home he set one of his pishogues. When the woman went to the garden for some cabbage to cook for their dinner he immediately changed her into the form
