- Until quite recently flour was made from wheat, which was ground locally, at a small mill worked by water-power, at Curra-Bower about two miles south of Glantane school.
Nobody in this district, whom I asked for information, remembers querns being used; but many people heard about them.
My father told me he remembers to see potato-cakes made about fifty years ago but only as a novelty.
