  1. There are five forges in Millstreet the names of the smiths are
    1. James Sullivan The Bridge, Millstreet
    2 John and Bill Radley Minor Row Millstreet
    3 Denis Hickey The Bridge Millstreet
    4 Denis Riordan West End Millstreet
    These forges are situated in the town of Millstreet in back lanes.
    Some of the roofs are made of pitch and others galvanize. Sometimes two fires are kept lighting in the forges.
    The smith shoes horses, asses and he also makes many farm (f) implements such as ploughs, harrow, sledges, tongs, pokers, griddles.
    The smiths are regarded as very strong men. There is supposed to be a cure in the water in which the smith cools his iron. This is the origin of the belief:-
