in Mr Morgan's field. The factory in Mr McGrath's field was owned by Mr Forde.
There are many more, but some of our old men and women have passed away who knew all about them.

  2. There is the ruin of an old tannery-factory still to be seen in Mr McGrath's land about a quarter of a mile east of my house.
It was established about a century ago, but has long since been evacuated, but portions of the walls are now standing, strong and firm and are covered with ivy. The interior of the factory is closed in with earth and shrubs are growing there; but I believe there are some dangerous water-sodden holes in it. A stream flows past this ancient ruin and a lane leads from the main road to it.
The company of the factory used to tan the hides of cattle, goats and calves into leather. They bought the hides from the farmers and sold the tanned leather to the shoemakers and shopkeepers. It was owned by some Mr. Ford.
