- There wasn't any nails made in Ireland long ago, and so the smiths of the locality made them themselves. The man who made them for this district was Mac Donell. He had a small forge in Schull, near where Mr Whitley lives now. He had a number of different shapes, one for horse shoe nails(continues on next page)
