  1. A doleful declaration most painfully condoling
My sad and wretched state I most painfully deplore
A state precarious I had ne'er been before in
Being scarcely now able the same to report
For sickness now has humbled me and that into the lowest degree
That I do stand as you may see in great danger of course
My vital sensations are decreasing with rapidity
And I also bewailing without means to console
How little I expected I would ever be stationed
So wretched and so feeble so weak and so low
For fickle faithless fortune has voluntarily forsaken me
And bitter is my ailment as plain you may know
Why should I impatiently await the hour of destiny
That is owing to human vanity
To which we all are prone
That I do stand in danger of being taken to eternity
And therefore who can blame me for making my moan
Shall I bid adieu to my friends, likewise my parents
Likewise my old acquaintances so constant and so true
Shall I bid adieu forever to my kind and worthy neighbours
The best of any people a nation ever knew
The thought of such a harsh decree is ever more than match for me
I yield to those emotions free encompassing my soul
