  1. The Lisalohorig bridge is situated about three miles north east of Skibbbereen. It is spanning the river Caol na Meala and is joining the townlands Cill na Claise and lios-a' lothraigh. It was built about the year 1820 and was broken down again in 1921 by the Irish Republicans so that the Black and Tans would not take their lorries across. In about 1923 a timber bridge was built and it was left there until it broke under a load of slate then in 1925 the bridge was built again.
    Its name is Droichead na Gamhna and an old story followes how it got its name. There used to be a white calf seen there and was said to have human speech. One night a man was going home from a neighbours house he spoke to the calf and immediately he fell asleep and when he awoke he was on the calf's back. He was taken to the Kerry hills and
