At last the hare reached a tumbled cabin and without a moment's hesitation jumped in through the window while the hound just caught the hare's leg and took a piece out of it.
The priest entered the cabin but could see no hare.
There was only an old hag sitting on a stool in the corner. "Did you see and hare" asked the priest. "No" said the old woman. The priest asked the old woman to stand up and when she did he saw the stool was covered with blood and that there was a piece gone out of her leg.
He then knew that she was not the hare at all but an old witch.
