  1. Local forge
    29_11_1938.
There is but one forge in our district. It is situated on the left hand side of the road as you go from Mullen school to Fairymount. It is beside a crossroads and its owner is Mr. John Keane.
It is built with stones and there is a thatched roof on it. There is one fireplace in it, and it is neatly whitewashed on the inside and outside.
The blacksmith generally shoes horses, donkeys and wheels of carts, and he also fixes every kind of farm implements.
