  1. 1) It is not lucky to go in one door and out the other.
    I know people that insist on yours going out the door you came in.

    2) It is very unlucky to allow anybody to bring a lighted coal out of the house.
    Upon 24th January 1933 Mullen was used as a polling booth.
    Gd. Daly, Frenchpark wished to kindle a fire in the school. He went to Mrs Carroll who lives a few yards from the school and asked for a few coals. She refused to give him the coals but had no objection to giving him matches.

    3) If a person enters a house where a sow is on the point of farrowing some people insist on him waiting until all the bonhams are born.
    In some country houses it is considered lucky if the bonhams are born in the kitchen.
