  1. "Spare the Hay", as Johnny Mooney said.
    This is an expression used frequently by people when they are advising others to be economical.
    There was a man living in this district named Johnny Mooney. He was a very careful and economical farmer. He when a Catholic and when he was dying at a very old age the priest came to attend him. When he was about to leave Johnny requested him to impress upon the family the necessity for sparing everything. His last words were "above all Father tell them to spare the hay".
    The expression is a very common one locally.
