  1. Long ago the people cured their ailments with cures which they got from old people.
    There was an old woman living in Knockroe who made ointment for curing scalds and burns. She made it with lard and herbs. People who had scalds or burns went to her and the ointment cured them.
    There was an old man living in Carrigeen who had a cure for a tooth ache. His name was Mr. Kelly. it was a prayer written down inside an envelope. It could not be opened or read but the person who got it was to believe in it and the tooth ache would be cured. It is said
