  1. The Devil July 23rd 1934
    Some years ago there lived a noble gentleman known as Sir John Power, a predecessor of the present Power family.
    He was at that time master of the Kilkenny hounds. One lovely morning of a meet during the hunting season Sir John felt so fit that he made the remark that he would ride against the devil (thd) that day. When he was out hunting that day a gentlman rode up on a lovely gray horse and Sir John was surprised to see that the man beat him in every way.
    He did some very difficult jumps he even went so far as to jump his horse through the fork of a large tree.
    Sir John had so much admiration for this fine sportsman that he invited him to dine with him among his guests. When the
