    In the time of the Penal laws hedge schools did exist in my district. The school were known as hedge schools. The hunted school master taught his classes at the back of a hedge or in a mountain. It was mostly in the open. The Irish people went abroad to get their education at colleges in Europe and then returned to Ireland to teach their
