    enough for themselves and that is how she lived. Every night the farmers used hold meetings at the crossroads to see how the old woman used take the butter on them. One night an old man told them that she used skim the well on the first May morning and the best thing they could do was to watch the wells all night on the first Morning in May.
    On the first May morning three men were put watching each well in the parish. They went to the well at about one o'clock in the morning. There were three men watching a well outside the town, and at about three o'clock they heard a step coming towards them. They took some water out of the well and drank it because if they did not put it to some use it would not prevent the woman from taking the butter on them. Then they hid behind a tree and the woman came and started to skim the well. When she was skimming the well one of them rushed out from behind the tree, and shoved her in on top
