    that there was a treasure hidden in the corner of the field adjoining the house. His friends and followers did not tell this secret to anybody. One day Mr Huntbrooke's friends and some members of his staff went to dig for the treasure. They remained digging until they were about five feet down below the earth. Then something extaordinary happened. They heard some terrible noise like thunder, and the ground began to shake under them, and all of a sudden the hole fell in and the earth swallowed up every man that was digging for the treasure.
    Soon after this two other men came to look for the treasure. They began to dig a hole next to the other hole. They remained digging until they came to a
